Nomad II is one of a series of deep-space exploration ships. The propulsion
system is based on a concept first proposed in the 20th century as "Project
Orion". Nuclear explosions against the stern sheilding plate propel the ship forward.
Through constant acceleration, the ship can exceed one tenth the speed of light,
shortening the trip to the nearest stars to less than forty years.
