This is a re-creation in 3-dimensions of the moon ships conceived by
Wernher von Braun and rendered for the Collier's magazine space symposium by the father of
space art, Chesley Bonestell. The image above is a screen shot of the VRML scene.

Some comments on the VRML modelling: the models are more detailed than one
would like for ease of movement within the VRML scene; however, they are also less
detailed than a dedicated space-art fan would like. Many little details have been left
off; the scene does not contain the space station, orbiters, astronauts, and construction
gear included in Bonestell's original; and the Earth is simply a flat disk, which is
positioned in such a way that there is obvious distortion if you look to the sides. Also,
although VRML supports a fairly good lighting model, it does not support shadow-casting,
so all elements of the ships are lit equally, regardless of whether they would or would
not be in the shadow of some other element.
