Access Control - Controlling who is allowed access to a computer’s content and applications.
Actions - activities concerning customers, leads or prospects in the form of phone calls, tasks, events, notes, messages and campaigns.
Add/Edit - Creates or changes the currently selected line item.
Application - A software program that performs a specific function.
Back/Forward - Buttons in most browsers’ Tool Button Bar, usually at the upper left. BACK returns you to the document previously viewed. FORWARD goes to the next document, after you go BACK.
Browser - also called a Web browser. Software for viewing Web pages; Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator are the two most popular browsers.
Business Rules - The laws, regulations, policies, and procedures that you are built into a computer system, also known as business logic.
Button – A small graphic usually labeled with text to indicate its function. Buttons may be used to initiate or conclude a process. A small graphics that acts as a hyperlink to another page is also called a button.
Cache - A memory space or virtual folder in your computer that holds temporary Internet files. Increasing the space you set for this folder can increase how fast pages are loaded, but it also decreases the amount of free space available on your computer.
Cancel Button - Cancels an action you have performed but did not save.
Comma-Delimited File - a spreadsheet or database file that contains data only, in which the contents of the different fields in a record are separated by commas, and the records are separated by paragraph marks.
Concept - An idea or design.
Cursor – An indicator or pointer on the computer screen, representing the current focus of your activity on the screen. It is moved around by using the mouse or the tab key, and sometimes the arrow keys. In web browsers, the cursor changes from an arrow to a hand with a pointing finger when it is over a clickable button or link. It changes to a blinking vertical bar when you click inside an editable field.
Data Entry - is a process in which a human operator keys or types information into a database.
Database - A collection of logically interrelated pieces of data accessible using appropriate software.
Download - Transferring data from one computer (a “host”) to another computer (the one you are using).
Drop-Down Menu - Navigational tool in which either rolling over or clicking on a link or button produces a list of clickable options, rather than jumping immediately to a separate page that lists the options; also called a pull-down menu.
Email - Electronic mail sent over the Internet.
Export - The process of transferring data from StaidRealty into another program. Firewall - Software that prevents certain kinds of access to a computer from other computers.
Flash - Animation software from Macromedia that requires a plug-in for your browser. One of the advantages of Flash animations is their relatively fast download time.
Form - A set of data-entry fields on a page. The data is sent to the host or server when the user completes and submits the form.
Form Field - A data-entry field in a form. The user supplies information in a field by either typing text or selecting an option.
Form Handler - A program on a server that runs when a site visitor submits a form.
GIF - GIF is a kind of image file. You can use a GIF file for your company logo.
Global Navigation - A system for helping users find their way through a web site's content that is consistent throughout the site.
Heading - The word or phrase used to describe the subject content.
Help - link in the upper right corner of every screen in the StaidRealty system.
Help Desk - A software application or service for tracking problems with hardware and software and their solutions.
Help for This Page - button in the upper right corner of basic tab pages in the StaidRealty system.
Help Page – The Help page contains links to specific help for every page in the StaidRealty system.
Home Page - The entry point into the pages of the StaidRealty site. From the Home page you can generally access the other site areas.
Hyperlink - A word or picture on a Web page that is associated with another Web page. Hyperlinks usually appear underlined or as images and can be referred to as links. Click a link to jump to the page that it is associated with.
Icon - An small image that represents a specific file, directory, window, option, or program.
Import - The process of transferring data from another program into StaidRealty.
Knowledge Base - a collection of information usually from a database to aid help desk analysts in problem resolution.
Landing Page - A page that a person arrives at after clicking on a link. Usually used to refer to the page a user lands on when coming into a web site from an external link.
Layer - A container in a page that holds page elements, such as text and graphics. Also called a panel.
Lead - A name or code that designates where a lead, prospect or customer was referred to your company.
Left Menu – The section on the left of a StaidRealty page that displays the main sections of StaidRealty. The Left Menu has panels that summarize what's in each section, including an "arrow" button to launch that section.
Link - A word or picture on a Web page that is associated with another Web page. Links usually appear underlined or as images and can be referred to as hyperlinks. Click a link to jump to the page that the link is associated with.
Login Access - Access you give to individuals and companies who need to enter and view information in your StaidRealty account. Composed of a login name or ID and a password.
Mouseover - Graphic element that changes image or color when a mouse is dragged over it; in terms of navigation, can be used in the same way as a drop-down menu to present destination options without requiring a jump to a unique page. Also called rollover.
Multimedia - Documents that combine text, graphics, sound, movies, or other media.
Navigation - Graphics, toolbars, buttons and links that allow you to move around, on and between pages in an application or web site.
Online - When users are connected to a network, they are described as being online.
Page Area - The main part of the screen that changes. The Page Area is the place where almost all your work will happen. Within each section, you will be able to go from one page to another, depending on what you need to do.
Page Title - A descriptive text string identifying a page.
Panel - A container in a page that holds page elements, such as text and graphics. Also called a layer.
Password - The secret code that you, your employees or others use to gain access to StaidRealty.
PDF - Portable Document Format; This universal file format preserves all fonts, formatting, colors and graphics of any document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Requires a browser plug-in or “helper” application, the Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Pop-up Window - A new browser window that displays when the user clicks on a hot linked graphic or hyperlinked text. Pop up windows are often smaller than the window the user is viewing.
Portal - Set of information--content areas, pages, applications, even data from outside sources--brought together in one central location and accessed through a common interface, called a page.
QuickNotes - Short personal notes you can jot down at any time for future reference.

Schedule Section - Overview of your personal calendar.
Scroll - To move the contents of a page or panel up or down or sideways to view parts of it that do not fit onto the screen. The scroll bars are usually grey or blue panels at the edge of the visible page or panel area.
Search - Searching the information available.
Server - A computer device or program that provides services to other computer programs which may be on the same or other computers. A web server is the computer program that provides requested web pages (HTML documents).
Site Map - A visual representation of the content of a web site.
Tab Delimited File - When you want to move tabular data such as contact information, you can export it from the program you created it in as a tab delimited file. A tab delimited file puts tab characters in between each piece of information in a record, and a paragraph character between each record.
Tab Pages - Pages which are accessed by graphical tabs near the top of the page.
Task - An unscheduled job you plan to finish before a certain due date, such as a project, an e-mail message to send or a call to make. You can create a task for yourself.
Text Box - An element of a page. Text boxes allow you type in information.
